She used the opportunity to learn more about the field of neuroscience to nurture her passion for a career in medicine. As a Sophomore at Cobb Innovation &amp; Technology Academy, Jordin is a committed, conscientious student enrolled in CITA's Surgical Technology pathway. As an Honors and AP student, she represented CITA at HOSA's State Leadership Conference Medical Terminology competition in 2022. She is passionate about dogs and has owned a pet sitting business called Tails A Waggin' since 2019. Her motto is \"Give me 1% of your trust, and I will EARN the other 99.\" In the future, Jordin wants to attend college in the Northeast, Midwest, Florida, or California. Childhood trauma creates the perception of uncontrollable bodily sensations. Victims of trauma feel alienated from their own body, motor movements feel confusing or dangerous. We hypothesize that Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TSY) re-embodies the victim and solves sensations of physical disconnection. Furthermore, TSY might stimulate activity in the cortical structures of the brain that impulsivity targets, healing trauma. It is primarily used to improve cognitive function and wellbeing, like learning, memory, and performance. During our first meeting, Dr. Giordano guided us through an exploration of our own brains, minds, and selves, probing for the problems, meanings, and questions within the world that surrounds us. Dr. Green maintains that creative insights are \u201cthe product of connections made between things other people didn\u2019t put together,\u201d and we explored the neurological foundations of this theory. In one of his most prominent experiments, Dr. Green had participants draw the analogies to evaluate semantic distance and creativity as explained above, but also regarded the potential role of neuromodulation. tDCS is transcranial direct current stimulation, which is a non-invasive \"helmet\" of sorts that allows for the modification of the neural pathways' firing in the brain. The external stimulator is placed on the scalp and then provides electrical stimulation to a broad region in order to control the neurons' firing.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"ls-slide\" ><p style=\"top:207px;left:718px;text-align:initial;font-weight:300;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;font-family:Montserrat;color:#000000;width:500px;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;white-space:normal;\" class=\"ls-l ls-text-layer\" data-ls=\"showinfo:1;position:relative;\">Along with Dr. Giordano, I had the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Rachel Wurzman, a Fellow with the Center for Neuroscience &amp; Society and Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Neurology with the Laboratory of Neural Stimulation at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wurzman promoted us to think critically about the questions that help drive science forwards and improve our understanding of the world around us biopsychosocially. She also lent her expertise of neuroplasticity, neurodiversity, and neuroethics to help our team develop our research proposal. In addition to our work with Dr. Wurzman, we had the opportunity to meet with a variety of neuroscientists with a variety of unique specialities. One such professional was Dr. Bill Casebear, a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force, who holds a joint PhD in cognitive science and philosophy.
