2024 Leadership Initiatives Summer Internship Program Scholarships
Leadership Initiatives offers scholarships to high school students from rising freshmen to graduating seniors for our Summer Internship Programs. Below are the 2024 Leadership Initiatives Scholarship recipients!
Benore Global Defense ScholarshipDuring her senior year at York International School, Alliton is a dedicated student who aims to be the best student at her school. She is taking college classes and has gotten a high score on her AP test in Spanish, giving her a Biliteracy seal. Alliton searches every day for a program where she can help her community and be a leader for other people. She wants to be an example for those around her. Alliton is part of many leadership clubs, in which she learns everyday how to become a great leader for her community. She joined the Students Council to help her peers have a voice in her school. Additionally, she is part of NHS in her school, where she helps her community and sets up events. At same time she is part of the senior ambassadors and JROTC in which she enjoys spending part in. In JROTC, she takes a role in being a Cadet major (D.O) and was a sergeant of her flight at the beginning of the school year. Additionally she is an honorable member of Speech and Debate, in which she plays Varsity. Benore Young Advocates ScholarshipJulio, a current junior, is involved in various activities around Rochester Adams High School. He is a member of the Debate Club, and he, along with two of his peers, has qualified to represent their high school in the 2024 National Speech & Debate Tournament hosted by the National Speech & Debate Association in Des Moines, Iowa. He is also involved in the school's music department. He has been an active member of the Rochester Adams Marching Band for three years. He has also had the honor of presenting himself with the Rochester Adams Jazz Band in Detroit’s Music Hall. He is also an active member of his community. As an officer for the National Honors Society chapter of his high school, he has overseen various leadership projects around his community and frequently volunteers. De Vera Rising Entrepreneurs ScholarshipCharlotte, a Junior at Ross High School, is highly interested in management and entrepreneurship. She has dedicated over 300 hours to volunteering within her community, focusing her efforts on increasing equity for English Language Learners and supporting environmental efforts. Her commitment to making a difference is evident through her involvement as the VP of Community Service in her DECA chapter, President of the Spanish National Honor Society, Secretary of her class, and Philanthropy Manager for JEE Foods, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Within these roles, she delegates tasks, develops projects, and manages initiatives. When she is not expanding her horizons, Charlotte spends time on her family farm, tending to goats, bees, and chickens. She is also a travel enthusiast, having been to three countries and numerous states. Dr. Paul Kostecki ScholarshipKensley is currently attending Fairfield Central High School as a junior, while dually enrolled in Midlands Technical College. Kensley takes many AP and college-level courses, ranging from calculus and physics to psychology and sociology. Kensley is grateful for the ability to participate as a leader in organizations within her school and community, most notably the National Beta Club, SGA, academic challenge, and HOSA. She is proud to represent her school at the state level as the Vice President of the SC Beta Club and Champion of the state Beta Club drawing competition, as well as a board member of the SC Million Women Mentors. Within the latter role, she has had the opportunity to connect with STEM educators and professionals across the state, while encouraging the participation of women in STEM fields. Dr. Paul Kostecki ScholarshipA rising senior at Edison High School, Sofia is enrolled as a full IB diploma candidate. She enjoys being heavily involved in school spirit, takes a leadership course, and is the Class of 2025 Vice President. Sofia also enjoys participating in clubs such as Student Ambassadors, Edison Minds Matter, and has recently been accepted into her school’s National Honors Society. Along with her interests in psychology and neuroscience, Sofia loves her history, physics, and math classes. This past year, she earned 2nd place in Animal Science at her school’s science fair. Sofia also dabbles in art and music, playing the guitar, and even winning an Honorable Mention in the 2024 Regional Scholastic Art Awards Program for her oil pastel painting, “Spring in Autumn.” She’s also an athlete, playing soccer for 12 years and is currently a defender for both her travel team, LMVSC 05/06, and her high school varsity team. Along with this, she has been playing volleyball for 3 years and is currently an outside hitter for her club team: X-Factor 17U. Kuehn Excellence in Security & Service ScholarshipAngelina is a senior at William T. Dwyer High School. Orengo spends most of her time at school with her JROTC program as their Battalion Commander. She is in charge of everything the program does, including the planning and execution of all events, training, and practices. On top of this, she works every day at a local restaurant called Salute Market, is pursuing her AICE diploma, and is a part of the National English Honor Society. She is proud to have been a Girls State Senator and wrote a bill to end eutrophication in the Gulf of Mexico by creating man-made swamps in South Florida. She was also the winner of the 2023 JROTC National Essay Contest, winning a trip to her favorite city: Washington D.C. She hopes to become a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State after she serves in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer. Linda Carullo Memorial ScholarshipElla is a junior at Waunakee Community High School. Her compassionate nature guided her to assist memory care patients and offer respite care to an individual with 1p36 Deletion Syndrome. In doing so, Ella honed her abilities in effectively managing and soothing the emotional distress of those under her care, while also addressing the intricate requirements of individuals with cognitive disorders. As an officer of the Waunakee HOSA chapter, she contributes to fundraisers, social events, and community service projects, in addition to qualifying for the HOSA state competition twice. Ella spends time volunteering with The American Red Cross, helping to coordinate donation events and support the needs of her local community. Linda Carullo Memorial ScholarshipAs a rising senior at St. Anthony’s High School, Ivy is a dedicated honors student who is enrolled in a multitude of challenging courses. Her favorite course is AP Research, where she has been working on her dissertation for a year. She is also the President of the SAHS Soup Kitchen Club, leading over 750 fellow students from all grade levels. Through this club, she leads a team of 50 students each month at a local soup kitchen in Brentwood, where over 100 families are served. These families receive groceries and goodies in order to aid their struggle. Additionally, she is a board member of the Community Outreach Club, a Council Member of the Clare Society, an ambassador of the SAHS Leadership Team, and a varsity track member. Outside of school, she volunteers at a local food bank and works in retail. Marshall Bailly “Senior” Memorial ScholarshipAs a rising senior at Dozier Libbey Medical High School, Mina has sought out opportunities to deepen her understanding of medicine. Mina currently takes AP classes and honor courses and is active in many clubs. She is part of TUPE (Tobacco Use Prevention Education), Debate Club, Key Club, Newspaper, Leadership, Mu Alpha Theta, and HOSA (Health Occupational Students of America). Being part of these clubs gives Mina a sense of responsibility and honor. Mina is her school’s chapter’s HOSA president. This upcoming year, Mina is delighted to participate at California Boys and Girls State as a delegate! She serves as her Junior Class President, Treasurer of Key Club, TUPE President, and Student Ambassador in the Muslim Student Union. Afterschool activities usually involve working as a TK/Kinder Junior Teacher or volunteering at the mom-baby unit at her local hospital. Ocbina Cybersecurity Innovators ScholarshipDhruv is a senior at Round Rock High School. Dhruv is a proud member of the Round Rock High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (MCJROTC). Through his four years in the program, he has risen in the ranks from an Inventory Officer to the Executive Officer (second in command). He has been heavily involved in his school’s Cyber Team, which competes in the Air Force Association’s Cyberpatriot competition and continuously places high in national competitions. Ocbina Future Business Leaders ScholarshipAs a senior at St. Mary’s Ryken High School, Emmanuel has been involved in many school clubs and groups. A club that he is very passionate about is Future Business Leaders of America which he is the president of. This year Emmanuel placed first at regionals and top 8 at the state level. Emmanuel has also participated in clubs such as the Black Student Union, National Honors Society, Student Council, and many others. He also runs varsity outdoor track for his high school. In his free time, Emmanuel likes to play sports such as basketball and soccer or playing video games with his friends.
