Dr. James Giordano is a distinguished leader in neuroethics, brain science, and biotechnology, serving as the Pellegrino Center Professor of Neurology and Biochemistry, Chief of the Neuroethics Studies Program, and Chair of the Subprogram in Military Medical Ethics at Georgetown University Medical Center. An author of over 350 peer-reviewed publications, 7 books, and 40 governmental reports on ethics and policy, Dr. Giordano is an elected member of the European Academy of Science and Arts and an Overseas Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (UK). He also serves as Senior Bioethicist at the Defense Medical Ethics Center, Stockdale Distinguished Fellow at the United States Naval Academy, and Science Advisory Fellow of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon.
Established to honor their shared commitment to health equity and academic excellence, the Garcia-Giordano Scholarship in Public Health and Medicine supports ambitious students, with a special focus on empowering Native American scholars from the Navajo reservation in New Mexico, to allow them to pursue collegiate trajectories in STEM and healthcare. Driven by a deep commitment to addressing critical healthcare access deficits in underserved communities, this scholarship equips aspiring leaders with the opportunities and resources needed to transform public health, elevate medical care, and build a brighter, more equitable future.
