Summer program students will have the opportunity to meet virtually, one-on-one with a college admissions expert from our partners at CollegeAdvisor. They will help walk students through the ins-and-outs of college applications, essay writing, and scholarships.

Students can speak directly with dedicated admissions counselors and former admissions officers to provide them with an in-depth understanding of the college application process. These counselors have personal and extensive experience in the college application field that cannot be replicated anywhere else.

Students are recommended to have their most pressing questions about the college application process ready so they can have them answered by someone who knows the application system inside and out.

Summer program students will have the opportunity to join webinars with top admissions officers from around the country. Students and parents will have the opportunity to ask questions to these officers to gain insights into the application process.

Students can speak directly with current admissions officers from Brown, the University of Pennsylvania, Duke, Emory, the California Insititute of Technology, and more! These individuals have a minimum of 15 years of experience in the field of college admissions.

Students are recommended to have their most pressing questions about the college application process ready so they can have them answered by someone who knows the application system inside and out.

Past students have used this time to discuss wholistic applications, how to utilize test scores, identifying safety vs reach schools, the importance of demonstrated interest at various universities, and more!

All participants of the Youth Development Programs receive professional development from experts in multiple fields so they can highlight to colleges, universities, and employers what skills they have.

Students use these experiences to highlight on college applications and resumes what they have accomplished. Leadership Initiatives will serve as a refence for all applications, scholarships and job applications for five years after the internship is completed.

The single greatest thing any student can have when applying for college is an experience that sets them apart from their peers. Students who participate in the International Internship Program help develop solutions for real-world problems facing communities in developing nations.

Not only does this demonstrate each student’s immense dedication to the welfare of communities worldwide, but it also highlights crucial skills including organization, team collaboration, creativity, effective communication, and many more essential qualities of leadership.

Real-World Experience

As part of the International Internship Program, students will have the opportunity to choose between Leadership Initiatives' International Business & Development Internship, International Public Health Internship, and International Law & Advocacy Internship.

The International Business & Development Internship Program is a first-of-its-kind program that allows students to work directly with businesses in the developing world. Leadership Initiatives identifies small business owners and participants for the program who live on less than $1.90 a day, have limited business experience, and struggle to provide for their family’s basic needs.

The International Public Health Internship Program is a nine-month global health program that targets vulnerable populations living in sub-Sarahan Africa. Interns will work with project managers and health care professionals in Bauchi, Nigeria. Working together, interns will develop and implement public health campaigns that target major health concerns such as immunization, reproductive health, adolescent health, food and nutrition, child health, drugs, food hygiene and safety, control of Malaria, and HIV/ AIDS.

The Leadership Initiatives International Law & Advocacy Internship program focuses on human rights activism through education, advocacy, and public interest litigation. Interns will assist with research and report writing on cases of human rights violations. They will also be involved in advocacy work with the chance to meet with important community stakeholders.

Leadership Initiatives creates a personalized website for each Summer Internship Program participanet highlighting their collaborative efforts with their partner in the International Business & Development Internship, International Law & Advocacy Internship, or International Public Health Internship.

The website displays your team's solutions, grant proposal, photos of your partners, and illustrates the impact your team has had on the life and community of your partners. The website link is included in your letters of recommendation, allowing colleges to independently explore the phenomenal work done by each and every student.
