Who can apply to the National Security & Diplomacy Internship?
The National Security & Diplomacy Internship is open to students in grades 7-12 who are looking for real internship opportunities in security, diplomacy, and intelligence. Eligibility does not guarantee acceptance. Each application gets a holistic review of the student’s transcript, relevant experience, future goals, and demonstrated interest or aptitude, shown through their personal statement and/or clubs and other commitments.
The application process starts with the online application at https://lichange.formtitan.com/ftproject/lienrollment/application. Our team then sends a follow-up form for the remaining items: a transcript, a personal statement, an interview, and either a letter of recommendation or two references.
Once accepted, students work in small teams. Each team has a team lead staff member and a professional mentor assigned specifically to that team. Students learn from current and former personnel from the FBI, CIA, Department of Defense, and State Department, who take part as mentors, presenters, and judges. Exact speakers vary from year to year.
If you’re looking for internship opportunities that go beyond the classroom, we encourage you to apply.
